reprogram your unconscious mind and transform your life

Jessica Vassallo is a Multi Award-Winning Hypnotherapist, ABNLP Trainer of NLP & ABH Trainer of Hypnosis, based in Devon.

The moment everything changed, I was 40.

It took four decades before I learned that I wasn’t anxious or depressed — it was something I was doing. That realisation stopped me in my tracks. Because if it was something I was doing — and it wasn’t serving me — then I could learn to do things differently.

I didn’t learn this at school. I didn’t learn it when I returned to university as a mature student. I learned it in a training room in London, with Trainers of NLP and Hypnosis, in 2014. And it changed everything.

That’s the thing about the unconscious mind. It doesn’t come with a manual. Most of us spend years — sometimes decades — believing that the way we feel, the patterns we repeat, the limits we bump against, are simply who we are. They’re not. They’re what we’ve learned. And what has been learned can be unlearned, updated, and replaced with something that actually works.

That’s what I do now — in the therapy room in Exeter, in the training room in Devon and Barcelona, and in organisations where people are ready to stop managing their challenges and start changing them. My mission is simple: to help others know that they can change too. Whether that’s one person transforming their relationship with anxiety, or a room full of practitioners learning to facilitate that change in others — the work is the same at its heart.

You don’t have to keep doing it the way you’ve always done it.

A little about me

I’m Maltese by heritage — my family moved to the UK when I was young, following my father’s career in the Royal Marines. I’ve called Devon home for many years now, and I can’t imagine being anywhere else. I live in a quintessentially English village, walk the coast paths and countryside trails whenever I can, and find that the sea and the hills calm my mind and nervous system like nothing else – accept hypnosis ofcourse!

I have a son who makes me beam with pride — he’s a Doctor, which tells you something about the kind of special human he is. I’m surrounded by good friends, a close community, a wonderful partner, and a deep love of travel, literature, films and musicals.

How I got here

I was working at a military charity when I first saw something that stopped me in my tracks. I watched people who had been through experiences I couldn’t begin to imagine — genuinely transform before my eyes. Not manage. Not cope better. Transform, from the inside out.

I needed to understand how that was possible.

A friend mentioned an NLP Practitioner course. Something in me just knew I needed to be on it. My first training was in 2014 — and it didn’t just give me tools. It helped me dismantle things I’d been carrying for decades. The relentless inner critic. The inherited patterns. The exhausting drive to earn my place in every room. For the first time I wasn’t learning to prove something. I was learning because I was genuinely curious about my own mind, emotions and habits, like emotional eating.

That course changed everything. It was the catalyst for my change and I knew I had to help others too.

After more advanced training in 2015, I built my practice in Exmouth and Exeter. In 2018, I went on to train to Master Practitioner level with NLP co-founder Richard Bandler, and worked at 10 Harley Street. In 2023, I trained with Ewan Mochrie from Inspire 360 and became an ABNLP and ABH certified Trainer of NLP and Hypnosis.

In 2024 I had the honour of assisting Paul McKenna on his Success for Life Tour.

In 2025 I presented at the UK Hypnosis Convention, London and am honoured to have been asked back this year.

I have now supported around 2,000 clients.

The credentials matter. But they’re not the point. The point is that every single one of those experiences has made me better at sitting across from someone and helping them transform their mindset, and transform their lives.

Why I became a trainer

Something shifted in how I worked with clients over the years. I noticed in sessions that I was teaching the neuroscience behind the change. Showing people how their patterns had been running their life, not just helping them switch them off. Because I wanted them to leave with more than a result. I wanted them to leave empowered, with understanding they could carry into everything their lives.

At some point I thought — if I’m already teaching this one to one, why not teach it one to many?

That’s the honest origin of how I became a Trainer, the natural progression from what I was already doing.

I’m still deeply passionate about my 1:1 work. Sitting with someone at the moment the light comes on — there’s nothing quite like it. But training practitioners means the ripple goes further. The tools I’ve seen transform lives — including my own — reach people through every practitioner that trains with me.

Ready to take the next step?

The approaches most people have already tried work at the conscious level. They’re useful. They’re just not where the problem lives. The unconscious mind built this so it is at the level of the unconscious mind that we  change. That’s the difference that makes the difference in my experience.

Whether you’re here because something in your own life needs to shift, or because you’re drawn to training as a practitioner — the first step is the same. A free 30-minute call, no obligation, just an honest conversation about where you are and where you want to go.
